Physical Memory DL 385

I have a server having 4 x 1 GB memory, in BIOS and in windows i see only 3 GB. I tried to check the RBSU but did not see any option for advanced memory protection.
Any idea?
if i do the test of the memory I see all the 4 slots with 1 GB each.

Re: Physical Memory DL 385

We had that too. This areticle explains how to fix it:

Re: Physical Memory DL 385

I am seeing 3 GB in POST also not only in windows. I am also seeing 3.0 GB not 3.50 usually in this problem the system will not show the memory allocated to hardware such as DMA. So usually it will not show about .5 GB.

I guess my case is different since I am only seeing 3.0 GB in POST.

Re: Physical Memory DL 385

- try reseating dimms
- swapping dimms

Re: Physical Memory DL 385

Have you checked for any updates for bios for your particular system? I think the reseating and reordering of the chipsets is excellent. I would also try inserting them one at a time into the system to ensure no bad modules. I am not sure about your specific system but if there is only 4 ram slots then it is moot. If there is more than 4 ensure that you are starting with slot 0 through slot 3 for the ram.

Re: Physical Memory DL 385

carefully check the memory configuration according to.
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00288917/c00288917.pdf
page 46.
especially the remark about installing same dimms in pairs.

alternatively check the insight management homepage (http://localhost:2301) to see wich dimm slot is not recognized.

Re: Physical Memory DL 385

It was nothing of the things you mentioned.
I swapped, changed, checked everything.

actually the memory is 4 x 1 GB and if you test it with smart start no problem you will see the 4 slots with no problem at all.

After disabling the RBSU option:
- Expansion Card Caching Optimization, i saw 3928 MB which is about 4 GB. the problem is that this server was new from HP so why didn't they pay attention to that.

No problem now it is solved, no complains.

Thank you all.
