Position of fans

We had a problem with one of our new DL380G2 servers. Sometimes on a warm rebut the server's video would not come back up and the server would not POST. We had to power off the server to get it to boot again and sometimes that didn't even work. When that happened we had to leave the system off for a while. We had a outside etch come in and he opened up the system. He told us we were lucky this time and he wouldn't charge us for the visit, he said one of the 6 fans inside the system was in the wrong spot. I know the fans can be moved around to match what you have installed but is this true? Is there a default configuration that has to be met? Is there an knowledge base article on it?

all the fans in our servers (unless moved by the user or by the reseller) ship in their default positions...it IS possible for a fan cable to come disconnected by accident but not be in the wrong spot unless as I say it is placed there by post manufacturer people.
