Power Management on Compaq ProLiant Servers
Is power management available for Compaq ProLiant Servers?
What ACPI system states are implemented (S1 to S5)?
Has anyone used this feature on a small business application?

Re: Power Management on Compaq ProLiant Servers
hi grieder
there is NO power management available for proliants.
all power things are checked and reported by hp agents to insight manager.
however, the hw will not slow down or enter any other power saving mode.
if you want to save $$ on power, you should not use a server.
all other power related problems do NOT exist in a proliant server.
you got very strong fans, really powerful power supplies, an excellent thermal layout and thermal shutdown in case something goes wrong with the hw.
this means, that all the hw is running all the time. this is good and absolute necessary for fast response times.
best regards
ernesto

Re: Power Management on Compaq ProLiant Servers
Dear Mr. Limbrunner
Thanks for your answer.
Yet I insist that power management is an issue even for servers. Check the following for example -> www.intel.com/update/contents/sv09031.htm or -> www.cs.duke.edu/ari/publications/bop-statement.pdf
