Power Supply problems

4 x DL580 with redundant fans and supplies connected to external storage systems with redundant power supplies. Equipment power supplied by a Compaq in rack PDU and a 6 way power board. Two circuits supply the rack from the same phase.
The redundant power supplies in the DL580s have blown 5 times in 6 weeks and tripped one of the circuits each time.
Power in the computer room is protected and supplied by a UPS. An Electrician has tested all circuits and found no problems.
The computer room contains 40 odd Compaq Servers and the DL580s and an ML570 are the only machines that have blown power supplies (they are on different circuits in different racks).
Any ideas on how I may trace the root cause of the problem or whether there is an issue with the power supply design in these machines?

Any help appreciated!

Re: Power Supply problems

You may want to download the Rackbuilder Pro program from our website and enter your exact hardware configurations into the program and let it build a site survey for you. Then compare the findings of your electrician with the survey results. It could be a discrepancy between the power requirements of this equipment and the power being supplied to these racks. Also, this equipment has auto sensing power supplies and can run at 110 volts as well as 220 volts. If you are running off of 110 volts, maybe consider switching over to a 220 volt circuit. Note: the power supplies are much more efficient at 220 volts and you will note that they are rated much higher in wattage at 220 volts which should put less strain on them.
