Power distribution on PSUs DL385 Gen10 Plus
Hello,
we have a couple of DL385 Gen10 PLus Server with HPC Profile and Max Cooling enabled. There are two Server with unusual power distribution across the internal PSUs. Is this normal?
For Example:
Server with unusual power distribution
HW PSU 0/1 OK - Chassis 0/Bay 1, State: "ok", Usage: 7 Watts
HW PSU 0/2 CRIT - Chassis 0/Bay 2, State: "ok", Usage: 500 Watts (warn/crit at 80/90)(!!)
Server with "normal" distrubution
OK HW PSU 0/1 OK - Chassis 0/Bay 1, State: "ok", Usage: 245 Watts
OK HW PSU 0/2 OK - Chassis 0/Bay 2, State: "ok", Usage: 243 Watts
Is this a normal behavior or should i open a Call?

Re: Power distribution on PSUs DL385 Gen10 Plus
Hello Pedae,
Thank you for posting your query.
As per the description, two servers have unusal Power distribution to Internal PSU's.
Could you please advise from where is this information captured? Are all these servers in your infrastructure connected to same Power Source?
Also please share the screenshots from iLO 5 GUI --> Power and Thermal
a. Power Meter
b. Power
Please do check Integrated Management logs for any critical/Warning message? If any such alert is reported, please capture a screenshot?
Thank you
BR,

Re: Power distribution on PSUs DL385 Gen10 Plus
These are the modes you can configure:
тАв Balanced ModeтАФThe system shares the power delivery equally between all installed power supplies.
тАв High Efficiency Mode (Auto)тАФThe system selects between the odd or even power supply based on a semirandomdistribution within a group of systems.
тАв High Efficiency Mode (Odd Supply Standby)тАФThe system places the odd power supply in standby.
тАв High Efficiency Mode (Even Supply Standby)тАФThe system places the even power supply in standby.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Power distribution on PSUs DL385 Gen10 Plus
Hello Pedae,
Thank you for sharing the information.
From the screenshot both power supplies are working in Balanced Mode and the status of both PSUs is OK.
Do we notice any Critical/Warning messages in IML logs?
If yes, I would suggest you to log a ticket with HPE Support Team for detailed analysis.
Thank you

Re: Power distribution on PSUs DL385 Gen10 Plus
Hi!
Are there any further information regarding to this? We have some systems in balanced mode showing up a difference in the power supply load. Some systems are 100 % equal power balanced, some other showing a difference of 4% between the power supplies.
Best regards
Claus
