My 4 years old server doesn't start any more. (ML115 G1, part number 439138-B21). I have no screen output, no POST beep, no fan or HDD running and of course no keyboard or mouse interaction is possible. The inside LED is green and the outside one is amber, as if it was expecting a wake-on-lan signal, the lan card leds being active. Except that a wake-on-lan signal is no more effective than a direct power button push.
I investigated a little more on the voltages available outside the power supply unit. The 5V for the lan card is present (#9). The power_on (#16) that should be at 5v is 3.3V. Everything else is 0V.
Should I change the power supply unit (the one from HP is expensive !!) or the mother board or ??
Thanks for you help.

Solutionfirst remove all optional cards and detatch all disks does it boot add them one at a time does a random card or disk stop the boot process if so points again at psu
the expected life of the psu on this is 3 years when no extra load option parts are installed ,,
the outside amber led indicates external issue meaning out side the tower so ip points at the psu ,,disk ttc neeed min 12 v on the rails when running and more on start,
I would change it without a doubt,
even at a long shot if it was not this you sure will nee PSU units live over 4 years
and i have seen hundreds of them
the above pretty much covers all logical steps
This is how we thank in the forum

Re: Power supply issues on ML115. Is there a specialist in the assistance ?
If the symptoms remain the same, I would also suspect the power supply (which in general should be much cheaper than the mother board)
