ProLiant 1600 Battery replacement

Does anyone have the proper procedure for replacing the CMOS battery in a ProLiant 1600, PIII/500 server? I've tried this on more than one and CMOS settings are not maintained. The documentation I have for the server does not reflect the actual physical layout of the jumper blocks.

I have successfully performed the replacement on a ProLiant 800, but the jumpers are not the same.

What I've done is to connect the replacement battery on the battery header and then move the adjacent jumper from pins 1-2 to pins 2-3 (theoretically to connect the 'new' battery). After this point CMOS is lost and will not retain settings through a power cycle.

Any help would be appreciated.
