ProLiant 1600 Pre-POST hang
I've set up one of our older ProLiant servers as a test box with SmartStart 5.5 and Win2k SP4.
As soon as all was up to date I noticed that rebooting or shutting down the box leaves it in a frozen state just with a black screen and a blinking cursor in the upper left corner. Keyboard and mouse are dead, no beeps!
It seems like it happens then when power should be cycled or cut.
As said, the wierd thing is that rebooting worked just fine during SmartStart and Win2k setup...
I looked for a newer BIOS version but it seems the one on the server is the latest already (from 2000.11.08).
Has anybody got me a tip?
TIA
Lyndon

Let us know if this does not help? -john

Re: ProLiant 1600 Pre-POST hang
thanks for the quick reply!
I downloaded the power down manager and wanted to install it, since I thought I never heard of it.
But then its setup said its installed and up to date already. So it doesn't seem that it would make a difference...
any other insights?

Re: ProLiant 1600 Pre-POST hang
I did change the Raid controllor to another slot after reading your tip.
But unfortunately it didn's help either...
any other suggestions?
