ProLiant Array Extension

Our Proliant ML350 G5 server has a Smart Array e200i controller and two Logical Drives with RAID 1+0 fault tolerance on both.

Logical Drive 1 uses 4 146 GB SAS 2.5 DP drives and Logical Drive 2 uses 2.

After I installed 2 new 146 GB SAS 2.5 DP drives into the 2 remaining available slots and tried Expanding Logical Drive 1, nothing is happening.

Originally I chose to expand it, and now 279964 MB of unused space is listed in SAS Array A under Logical Drive 1. But when I select "Extend Size" on Logical Drive 1 from either the common tasks or configuration wizard, nothing is happening and the unused space does not show up in Disk Management.

Here is further information on the controller after trying to Extend size with Unused space:

Cache Status Enabled
Accelerator Ratio 50% Read /50% Write
Total Memory on Controller 128 MB
Battery Pack Count 1
Battery Status OK

The only option is to create a logical drive from the unused space with same fault tolerance, but diskpart will not extend the Volume from Logical Drive 1 to that Disk, it gives the following error:

Cannot extend a basic volume to a different disk.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Albert
