I just got a ProLiant ML350 G4p from work that they were throwing away. My main issue is the RAID controller. I assume it's what's making the beeping, as shown in the video.
Also. the server is jet engine loud at start up, which is ridiculous. Another thing is I have no idea what these drive bay inserts are. I just assumed you fit a hard drive in there for hot swap.

Re: ProLiant Controller Problem
What you attached as a picture are drive blanks just to ensure proper air flow. You remove them and insert HDDs in the slots, other wise let the blanks installed in the empty slots.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: ProLiant Controller Problem
I'm assuming the server originally came with caddies for drives to go into, right? I didn't get anything else with the server.

Re: ProLiant Controller Problem
This is how such server looks like with drives and blanks:
It looks like the adaptec card is an PCI card that makes the trouble, consider to remove the card and see if the issue went away.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: ProLiant Controller Problem
I don't see the issue when the controller is removed.
Ok, but is there somewhere I can buy those caddies/adapters?

Re: ProLiant Controller Problem
You need a disk like this:
Remember, the server is more then 10 years old now, it is using SCSI disks. Have a look at the used market.
Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: ProLiant Controller Problem
No, it's definitely using SATA. I'm only asking in the event this server fits my needs. It'd just be for home use.
RAID controller is an Adaptec 2610SA.

Re: ProLiant Controller Problem
It depends what options are installed, for example an integrated smart array (not installed here), a "plain" SATA controller, 2,5" disks or 3,5" disks, etc ... I don't know what you have.
You may search for "ML350 G5p quickspec" to get a list of possible options.
However, it is really an old box ...
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: ProLiant Controller Problem
Right. Seems like it's just a plain SATA controller. Box didn't come with any drives, and it would still throw the error with or without a drive installed. Box is mid 2006.
Seems like this might do the trick: http://ask.adaptec.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/13092

Solution
Error 63 refers to a firmware issues, probably corrupted. According to the flash instructions and using the provided firmware, my controller no longer has a kernel panic. Another thing to note is this 2610SA is only provided and supported by HP and Dell, so you won't find it listed on Adaptec's website.
