ProLiant DL 160 G6 - unknown device
after installing Windows 2008 Server, I still have left one "unknown device".
The location says "PCI standard ISA bridge", the hardware ID shown is ACPI\HPQ000B...
Even after installing the current PSP 8.30, there still is no driver for this device.
Another thing which puzzles me is the fact that there seems to be no dedicated video driver, but only "standard VGA adapter"...
Any idea how to solve the unknown device issue in a different way than deactivating it?
regards
Thomas

Re: ProLiant DL 160 G6 - unknown device
I just have found a hint in an older thread about Win 2003 Server... so I installed "HP ProLiant 100-Series Management Controller Driver for Windows 2003/2008" from the "Driver - Lights-Out Management" section of the drivers download page which finally solved the problem.
IMHO HP should include this in the next PSP...
regards

Re: ProLiant DL 160 G6 - unknown device
You will be able to find the drivers for the Server in the Easy Setup CD which includes the video drivers:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=3884343&swItem=MTX-ad44c6ccbc4a4219bcd6f30b39&prodNameId=3884344&swEnvOID=4022&swLang=13&taskId=135&mode=3
I hope this information helps.
Regards.

aha - downloaded about 600MB, and... tadaaa...

> Software - Storage Controller

No Video drivers at all.... and don't tell
me to look into the "files" folder of the
CD... with file names like "cp010385.exe"...
Another thing that annoyed me was the fact
that HP delivers 5 different Network
drivers on the CD , but to get the
information which of them is needed for the
specific server model is a really difficult
task.

These are the drivers you need in a Windows 2003 x86 environment (if you have a different OS please let me know)

And Mr. Braun, I apologize for the delay in my response├в ┬ж I also had some problems to log back in the ITRC so that├в s why I had to create a new profile with a different nick name.

Server DL160 G6
Windows 2008 Standard R2 64-bit
It seems there is no driver available atm!?
The drivers you mentioned above are not for R2. When trying to install them I get a "wrong OS" error message. Trying to install the drivers manually doesn't work either.

HP ProLiant 100-Series Management Controller Driver

I was not able to find the HP NULL IPMI Controller Driver for a x64 bits Edition. Please let me know if the ChipSet driver fixes the yellow bangs or not.

Re: ProLiant DL 160 G6 - unknown device
in short: you are the best, you made my day, thank you!!!
a bit longer: I still cannot install the chipset driver (your first link), message still is: wrong OS / OS not supported.
But the yellow sign depended on that Management Controller Driver, and your 2nd Link definitely solved the problem!
Thank you again and have a nice day/week,
best regards,
Walter
