ProLiant DL320e Gen8 single system FAN failure causes server to reboot continiously
Hello,
I have an HP ProLiant DL320e Gen8 v1 server whose Fan#1 has failed (screenshot from HP IML attached) and causing the server to reboot every 30 minutes or so. Apparently, this is not supposed to be since a single fan failure is not critical. Also, as per another post at the link below, HP has already addressed this issue with a firmware update. The problem is that the link to this firmware update is not working from the post at the below.
Going to the firmware download page there is a whole lot of firmware bundle available and none refers to Fan firmware in the details.
Can some either point me to the proper firmware update link or advise which firmware bundle contains the fan firmware update from the download page ( Firmware - Power Management ...etc for instance) and also to the documented procedure for performing the firmware upgrade.
Thanks in advance
Ruben

Re: ProLiant DL320e Gen8 single system FAN failure causes server to reboot continiously
If you replace hp.com with hpe.com in the link you referenced you can access the advisory. This advisory is for a DL360 Gen8. The fimware update is for the iLO
What is shown in the IML and iLO logs?
You can download the complete SPP, or create a custom one to just download firmware for your server here
https://spp.hpe.com/custom/#/
If you build a custom bootable ISO that will be used in offline mode, be sure to select at least RHEL 7 as a selected OS. The offline tool requires the firmware files be in Linux RPM format.
From the SPP page, read the FAQ under the help tab

Re: ProLiant DL320e Gen8 single system FAN failure causes server to reboot continiously
Hi,
Definitely it needs to change in Fan 1. It is not a situation that can be solved by firmware update.
Fan spare part number 732638-001 SPS-FAN ASSEMBLY v2

Re: ProLiant DL320e Gen8 single system FAN failure causes server to reboot continiously
The fans are not redundant, a failed fan will bring the server down.
see also
The DL320e Gen8 has 4 non-redundant fans, the DL320e Gen8 v2 has 3 fans, also not redundant.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
