ProLiant DL360 G6, RHEL 6, bond interface does a kernel panic when shut down
On a newly installed RHEL 6 server (ProLiant DL360 G6), a bond interface (eth0 + eth1) gives a kernel panic each time the interface is shutdown.
Additionnaly, a ping to a local address (same LAN) always gives the first frame to be a DUPlicate.
The two NICs are BCM5709.
- Is it a problem of the DL360 G6 firmware (latest BIOS installed)?
- Is the bonding module (RHEL 6) guilty?
/etc/modprobe.d/bonding.conf:
alias eth0 bnx2
alias eth1 bnx2
alias scsi_hostadapter cciss
alias scsi_hostadapter1 ata_piix
alias bond0 bonding
options bond0 mod=1 miimon=100
ifcfg-bond0
DEVICE=bond0
BOOTPROTO=none
ONBOOT=yes
NETWORK=10.1.1.0
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
IPADDR=10.1.1.11
USERCTL=no
#
NM_CONTROLLED=no
Thank you,
Regards
JC

Re: ProLiant DL360 G6, RHEL 6, bond interface does a kernel panic when shut down
Hi,
Check the /var/log/messages and depending on the error, you can troubleshoot.
Check the following links for more help.
https://www.novell.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=7004571
http://www.tokiwinter.com/configuring-interface-bonding-on-centosrheloel-6-x/
It cannot be an issue with BIOS version, but it can be some configuration issue with Multiport NIC or its Drivers/Firmware or RHEL6 itself.
Thank You!
I am a HP employee
