Last night the Smart Storage Battery failed on our Gen9 server which caused an unexpected shutdown. Does anyone know why the battery failing would cause the server to shut down, we have batteries fail in the past and this has not happened.
Ideas?

SolutionThis is not expected behavior so I question if you had other issues occuring at the same time. I'd open a ticket with support and have them go through the logs to see exactly what happened. The server should continue to operate fine with the storage battery down except write cache will be disabled.

Re: ProLiant DL360 Gen9 Storage Battery Failure Shuts Down Server
First I would update BIOS and ILO to the latest versions.
ILO 2.55
BIOS 2.52
You currently have ILO 2.40 and BIOS 2.00
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
