Hello.I am new to HPE servers and just inherited a ProLiant DL360p Gen8. What is the best way to update the firmware for HPE servers. Can anyone give me the upgrade path or directions how to start?
thanks
Kipper

SolutionHello @Kipper_Nate
For firmware upgrade it is recommended to determine current FW levels and based on which upgrade path could be suggested accordingly.
I see you are referring to a Gen8 server, last SPP (Service Pack for Proliant) released was back in 2018 (Gen8.1)
For Gen8.1 SPP upgrade, recommended path is to ensure current FW levels as per SPP 2017.04.0, 2016.10.0
Below link has content of SPP included in SPP 2016.10.0 & 2017.04.0
https://downloads.hpe.com/pub/softlib2/software1/doc/p1205445419/v123692/SPP2016.10.0_Contents.pdf
Below is link to HPE Information Library which has release notes and other reference links to SPPs for more information.
You could also content our support and they could help review Active Health System Log from server in question and advise upgrade path accordingly.
Regards,
SB6!

Re: ProLiant DL360p Gen8 server firmware
What wasn't made clear was that the SPP's only contain the firmwares as of 2017.
Further firmware updates were released in 2018/2019 since the SPP's to address Meltdown/Spectre vulnerabilities.
Available here (flagged as entitlement required but can be downloaded freely):
You'll find newer firmware for on other devices and iLO as well there too with a bit of poking about on the left side options.
