ProLiant DL380 G3 management drivers for Debian Linux?

I have Proliant DL380 G3 running Debian Linux 3.0 (aka woody). HP provides management drivers for various linux distros they support officially. Unfortunately they are all released as rpm packages suited for specific distro releases, but those are not easily usable on Debian. I can generate .deb package from .rpm, but it doesn't work. These rpm's have shell scripts for building kernel modules which assume things to be in places alien to Debian. It would be nice to have one tar.gz archive with needed binaries and kernel module source etc. without all that shell script jungle, please 8-)

Same probs here - with another Linux distribution => Gentoo (http://www.gentoo.org)

RedHat and SuSE are only a part of the Linux community.
A more general tar archive would be really nice...

I agree absolutely.
I really like the Proliant servers, we are planning to set more of them productive, and it would be one neccessity to be able to use the management drivers.

With a _lot_ of ugly hacks and troubles, one can get this excellent software work half-half under Debian. It would be a real pity, if we couldn't get it work, since Debian is already a fix choice.

I get an emailnotification from this forum if anyone would want to contatct me to get things running.

Dear HP team, hope we can cooperate.

yours sincerely
