ProLiant DL380 G7 - "background parity initialization is currently queued or..""
hi,
I have
server ProLiant DL380 G7 , Its installed VM Ware EsXi 4.1, with four virtual servers.
RAID 1, RAID5
Smart Array P410i in Embedded Slot
SAS Array A - 1Logical Drive(s) RAID 1
2x300 GB SAS Disks
SAS Array B - 1Logical Drive(s) RAID 5
3x300 GB SAS disks
I have added 3x1.2 SAS and created Array c, its showing 2.2 tb usable also, but the information status message shows that
"code 785, Background parity initialization is currently queued or in progress on logical drive 3 ( 2.2 TD, RAID 5). If background parity initialization is queued, it will start when I/O is performed on the drive. When background parity initialization completes, the performance of the logical drive will improve."
When i try to add HDD In VM Ware, its not avilable, is it because of this parrity initialization? Please help me..

Re: ProLiant DL380 G7 - "background parity initialization is currently queued or..""
Background parity initialization is a purely background process whenever you setup a new logical drive.
It should not stop you from using the drive though.
Just guessing, but is there a 2TB limit on an ESX datastore?
Try making your logical drive lower than 2TB and try again...
Thanks
Mark...
