ProLiant DL380P Gen8 - HD Controller Temperature
In ilo 4 Temperature Graph I see red color on hd Controller, the temperature of HD Controller its about 74C and caution its about 100C, I don't know if this is correct or its high, since the 74C is very near to caution temperature, and so far the highest temperature. but the status is OK
I use 4 Hard 600GB SAS in Raid 10 array with the built in Smart Array Controller p420i zero memory and the server on test only (no work load )
The HD controller have normal temperatures or I have a problem?

Re: ProLiant DL380P Gen8 - HD Controller Temperature
I have a similar set up with 4 hard drives Raid 10 SAS15k
Have noticed the temperature of the hard drive above normal.
Bay 1 48 degrees
Bay 2 55 degrees
Bay 3 56 degrees
Bay 4 47 degrees
The firmware are all up to date.
Ambient room temperature 21 degrees.
HD controller 59 degrees.
HP technician thinks that the hard drive should be running at 35 degrees.
like to see HP customer service to follow up further.
Case still open with HP support.

Re: ProLiant DL380P Gen8 - HD Controller Temperature
I just picked up a brand new DL360p Gen8:
Room temperature is 22 Celsius.
I have NO drives installed (the host runs ESXi using SAN storage).
HD Controller is running at: 86 Celsius
FlexiLOM is running at: 71 Celsius
All other temperatures in the system are below 20-40 Celsius

Re: ProLiant DL380P Gen8 - HD Controller Temperature
Did you solve the problem?
We are in a similar situation.
One of our customers has 6 DL380p gen8 all showing 80C on HD controller whereas all other temps seem to be quite normal. Room is coold with professional cooling system and ambient temp is 21C.
Another customer has 3 DL380p gen8 where the HD controller shows only 55C. Abient temp for his server room is 24C which is higher.
Ihave no idea what is going on here.
Thanks.

Re: ProLiant DL380P Gen8 - HD Controller Temperature
I wonder if it has to do with how many drives the controller is managing, how many arrays, etc.
I just checked my DL380p Gen8 and 2 of them are 69C, one is 85C.
The one running hotter is handling 8 drives, while the other 2 cooler ones are only running 6 drives (but those 2 also have a second P420 card installed that manage another 6 drives in the 8SFF expansion cage).
All of those have their fans 1-3 running at just 6% and fans 4-6 are at 35-45%.
A 4th system I have with the v2 CPU's is running at 70C with 8 drives, roughly the same fan speeds.
I've always seen the array controller area run hot, and if you've ever held your hand near the built in controller while it's running, you can definitely feel the heat radiating from it.

Re: ProLiant DL380P Gen8 - HD Controller Temperature
We are in a similar situation
I have 6 Hp dl380p g8 and as you know hp dl380 g8 has integrated controller for exp. b120i and maximum hdd suppor for intergrated card is 6 h.d.d when you need more h.d.d you have to install new controller card . but i insttaled p420i smart controller in raiser 1 . and when after 5 min fan speed reaches to 100 % performance ( high speed RPM) and after 5 min this process continues (again and again) !
I ask again is it normall ?
Is it normal temperature for p420 controller ? yes or no ?
please check it photo
