ProLiant DL580G1

Hi,

I'm trying to remove one of the processors of one of our Proliants DL580R01 X700-2M 2P US servers.

When I physically remove the processor the power indicator remains amber (like turned off) and blinks and the server does not turn on, after reattaching the processor everything works fine.

Is it that this model has to have 2 or do I need to change some setting in order to make it work with 1?

Thanks

Victor:

Did you remove the VRM as well? or just the processor?

Also, did you remove the slot 2 CPU? (sounds silly, I know... but you know know).

Just the processor on slot 2.

Re: ProLiant DL580G1

You probably should remove the VRM as well. The server bios otherwise thinks that there should be a processor in place and can;t find it. Perhaps a protection system so you do not burn up your mobo.

Can't find the VRM, where is it?

Victor:

Usually, the underside of the top cover of the server has the locations of all the components on the System board. The VRM is usually close to the Processor it is supporting.

Re: ProLiant DL580G1

You need to have Processor Terminator Board

there is no VRM or PPM
