ProLiant ML150 vs Smart Array 2SL

Hi

I'll install Smart Array 2SL Compaq PCI on ProLiant ML150 but I don't have an idea to configure, and then run on Linux Red Hat 9. I need a help/guide how to configure, is it possible?

Thanks

Re: ProLiant ML150 vs Smart Array 2SL

Budi:

You will need to create the array with the Array Configuration Utility from you SmartStart CD

or from the diskette version:

Let me know if this does not help you? -john

Re: ProLiant ML150 vs Smart Array 2SL

Hi John

Thank you for your advise. I had tried to follow your instruction and download the software Array Configuration Utility (ACU). When extracting files on disk 2 and extracting ACU done, the computer hanged.

I also follow the instruction that it requires a 32MB System Partition which can only be created on a beginning HD with 32MB unused space, using Compaq System Configuration Utility (SCU). But error message appeared "maintenance jumper (switch #6 or jumper E17) is set". I try to force it and there was a message "error trying to access the fixed disk, run the configuration utility to correct the error". The last is ISA computer detected, but actually the computer have only PCI.

Do you have any idea about this.

Thanks and regards

Re: ProLiant ML150 vs Smart Array 2SL

Budi:

I am not surprised the "old" ACU diskette version was not working with the newer servers. The diskette version was invented a long time ago with workstations in mind.

You really need to use the ACU from a SmartStart 5.50 CD but I do not think that CD will work in the ML150 and I am sure the CD you have will not detect/config the 2SL.

Your best bet is to use a SmartArray 5 or 6 series controller.
Enjoy!
