ProLiant ML350 G5 PCIe slots 4 and 5 don't work together

Hi

I have a ML350 G5 running Windows Server 2003 Std. We use a PCI/PCI-X expansion chassis from DataPath [www.datapath.co.uk] (IPC-X16) to add additional expansion slots to the server for our system. The configuration has worked for a long time now however we normally hook up only one expansion chassis to the ML350 (via a PCIe host card) but recently we have tried to use all three PCIe slots in the ML350 to add three IPC-X16 chassis. We found that when we put a PCIe host card in both slots 4 and 5 of the ML350 (the first two PCIe slots) both slots become disabled.

We are able to put a single host card in any of the PCIe slots (4, 5, or 6) and the IPC-X16 is visible, we can even put a host card in both slots 5 and 6 and have the system work. It is only when we put a host card in both slots 4 and 5 that the two slots become disabled (note if we put a host card in all three slots only slot 6 is enabled, 4 and 5 are disabled). We have tried this now in two ML350's and both are having the same issue.

Does anyone know what might be special about slots 4 and 5 in the ProLaint ML350 G5?

Thanks for your help.
