ProLiant ML350e Gen8 - RAID 1+0 - RAID card or not ?
I'm going to setup a ProLiant ML350e Gen8 soon with RAID 1+0.
I have the choice between using the internal B120i controller on the board, or using an Adaptec 6805 that I still have lying around (with 512 MB FBWC) or an HP P420 with 1G FBWC.
Does it really make any sense to use an add-in RAID card for a RAID 10 setup - will I see any performance improvements or not ? Theoretically I shouldn't see any because the B120i should be able to handle that with minimal impact on the Xeon CPU ... just want to be sure though. And it would be a shame to put in a dedicated RAID card if there's no speed improvement or other benefit at all.
Thanks.

Re: ProLiant ML350e Gen8 - RAID 1+0 - RAID card or not ?
Hi,
I would go with B120i for Raid 1+0.
Also read these articles about B120i, it will help you configure the controller.
How to Enable or Disable B120i Controller?
HP Dynamic Smart Array B120i/B320i Controllers Should Be Set for "Dynamic HP Smart Array B120i RAID Support" or Enabled in the RBSU and Using the HP Controller Driver to Reduce Fan Speeds and Fan Noise.
Thank You!
I am a HP employee
