ProLiant ML370 G3 CPU upgrade

Hello,
We have recently upgraded 2 CPUs on our ProLiant from 2.8GHz/512/533 to 3.066GHz/512/533. And since then system does not boot up at all, not even on screen post. We've installed old CPUs back but are having same problem. The M/B seems to operate normaly, after self test CPU lights are showing amber (which means either CPU or VRM failure). So we stuck now and need help. Thanks everyone for answer in advance.

Hi,

Try clearing NVRAM using the system maintenance switch.

Re: ProLiant ML370 G3 CPU upgrade

Update,
So far we have tried the following CPUs:
1st pair: 2800DP/512/533/1.50V SL6GG COSTA RICA
2nd pair: 3066DP/512/533/1.525 SL6VP COSTA RICA
3rd pair: 3200DP/1M/533/1.525 SL72Y COSTA RICA
4th pair: RK8054KG1041M Q78R ES COSTA RICA

All of them are taken from working servers to test on our ML370 G3. All of them were tested in pairs and as single in CPU1 slot.
Before testing any of CPUs we looked up on google for reference of them being used in this model ML370.
Unfortunately all of them give the same result - no boot up.

Re: ProLiant ML370 G3 CPU upgrade

I too have tried Sl72Y with no luck. Many are not supported by the BIOS, however in my research it appears that the following are suitable, from worst the list goes down to the best:

SL6GH 3.06/512/533/C1
SL6RR 3.06/512/533/C1
SL73P 3.06/1024/533/M0
SL72G 3.06/1024/533/M0
SL7BW 3.20/2048/533/M1
SL7AE 3.20/2048/533/M1

Handy to check the CPU diffs is Intel's query tool;

Re: ProLiant ML370 G3 CPU upgrade

Do you have a solution for this yet, specifically a way to use the 3.066GHz cpus on the 2.8GHz motherboard? I have a similar need.
