Prob configuring new NIC

i am having probs with configuring a 3com 3c905b-txnm 100mb pci nic. everything appears to install/config properly, but I cannot ping out to any clients -- oddly, all clients can talk 2-way with server fine. I had same prob with a linksys 100lne-tx card. anything unique I need to do to uninstall or disable the integrated 10mb nic?
