Problem Configuring ILO4 on an DL320 Gen8 Server _ Questions ?

Hello ,

I have some questions about configuring the ILO4 on an DL320 Gen 8 Server.

There is no dedicated ILO4 Port on the Server. Only 2 "normal" LAN NICS.

First Question : is it possible to configure one of the both Network Adapters only for Use with ILO4 ?

Second Question : If its not possible - is this then right that configure the ILO4 for "dedicated Network Port" is not possible for the ILO4 with no own ILO4 NIC ?

Thirt Question : Is it normal that i reached the ILO4 Website from every other PC in the Network but not from the Server Operating System himself  ? My Config is a Network Team from NIC1 and NIC2 , Server IP 192.168.0.1 , ILO4 IP 192.168.0.2 . , ILO4 as Shared Network Port

Last Question :

When i try to sent an Alert Mail from ILO4 Management then it dosnt work . What can be the reason. Is this the reason that i docnt reach the ILO from the Server ( Exchange ) site ?

I think there is no connection between my ILO4 IP adress 192.168.0.2 and the Server Operating System IP Adress 192.168.0.1.

Thanks for Help

Michael

There is a dedicate iLO port option, if your systems don't have it, then NIC1 is used in shared port mode

see above

When in shared port mode, you cannot access the iLO from the host system itself. This is a known limitation .

The iLO needs the FQDN or the IP address of the SMTP mail server. and the shared port needs to be connected to a network that can access the mail server. If the mail server happens to be this same host then it won't work unless you add the dedicated port on this system.

AFAIR the shared port is the first network port of the server, so the ILO connection works over LAN1. No matter if you use teaming or not, the ILO address is bound to the first port only.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
