Problem on a ML350 g5 with the serial port.

Hi, i'm having problem with the serial port of a ML350 G5.
Initially it works like a charm.
Since 04/05/07 the COM2 disappeared and the modem on COM1 was no longer viewed.

There is no driver-rollback possibility (the driver is the microsoft one and no other version was installed ever).

We tried
-Updating with PSP 7.60
-Removing the COM1 from the device manager and leaving the server to re-install it.
-IML does not tell anything regarding.
-event viewer just tells that the communication device installed on COM1 is no longer available.

Can anyone help, please?
Thanks.

Try clearing the NVRAM by using the Maintenance switch # 6 ( look at your to cover ).

Did you add any PCI device recently?

Re: Problem on a ML350 g5 with the serial port.

Hi, It sounds like I saw this problem just today , also ML350 G5 , with the modem just not working or being seen.

Here's my fix.. Go into the ILO setting and change the CLI to Disable , save exit.
( This should stop it happening again next month ).
NOW ! to clear the port from it current hung state , you have to Power off , and Pull Out All the Mains Leads from the server for 2 mins..
Fire it up again and the modem is now see and should work ok . And because you have changed the setting for the CLI = Disabled it should not happen again.

Regards Neal..
