Problems after adding additional memory
Hi
Can anyone help ???
After adding an additon 1GB of memory (now has 1.2GB). We recived a warning that the processors could not use all the memory for caching and may impair server performance.
How do we overcome this problem as the performance on the box is rubbish.
Do I need to apply a Service Pack or something ????
Cheers
Steve

Re: Problems after adding additional memory
I had the same problem earlier this week when I added an additional processor and upgraded to 2GB of RAM. The problem was due to the stepping on the additional processor I was adding. Compaq support said that the SL2KA stepping would only utilize 512MB of RAM. So, I found another processor with SL2S5 stepping and the Proliant 3000 boots and runs fine now.

Re: Problems after adding additional memory
This server will accept a total of 512 mb of ram, adding more will decrease performance. Also, it is recommended to use only Compaq memory modules. This infomation can be verified by downloading the user reference guide available in .pdf format and the specific information about the maximum configuration is at page 1-2.
