Problems booting proliant ml310 g5
Hi everybody,
for some time I have been having some problems booting my server, it takes ages (10 minutes more or less) until windows server 2003 login screen appears.
I have to say I have a raid 1 configuration
I have some screenshots to illustrate better the issue.
1.- Starting the server

2.- This is the point where the server spends 8 minutes "scanning the device the port 0" and I don't know what it means!

3.- Then it starts "loading configuration", it lasts 2 minutes. Don't know what it means either.

4.- Then this. Don't know what it finds! :(

5.- Then it finds a "new" logical device... :s and it's been there since day one!

6.- And then the server installs the bios

So, I would be grateful if you can tell me what's going on with the server and how to reduce the booting time.
Thank you, and sorry for my bad english!!!

Re: Problems booting proliant ml310 g5
I would press F8 before it starts the scan.
Maybe you have a broken disk that is responding a little bit or something and causing issues while the controller is scanning for disks.

First of all thank you for your answer, I appreciate it!
I'll try pressing the F8 button but I remember I tried doing that and it didn't respond.
Otherwise what would you suggest, should I try removing either disc to see if it is the real cause?
Thanks a lot!!!

Re: Problems booting proliant ml310 g5
You could easily lose your data this way.
Maybe you pressed F8 too late in the POST.
I'd try to get into the management overview of the system. If this is not possible - take backup, and then try your way.
Maybe a reseat of the disks while the server is off could also help it.
