Problems installing HP Insight Management Agent

Hi, I´ve recently installed HP SIM, so I started to update agents versions in all of our servers. I´m using PSP 8.6, and the problems occurs when I have to install this agent. I'm getting failed dependencies, with the following text:


Installation for "HP Insight Management Agents for Windows Server 2003/2008" requires one or more of the following that is not currently installed or in the install set:

- HP ProLiant Advanced System Management Controller Driver for Windows
- HP ProLiant iLO Advanced and Enhanced System Management Controller Driver for Windows
- HP ProLiant iLO 2 Management Controller Driver for Windows
- HP ProLiant iLO 3 Management Controller Driver for Windows
- HP ProLiant iLO 3 Management Controller Driver for Windows
- HP ProLiant 100-Series Management Controller Driver for Windows


And I can´t find any of those drivers anywhere! I'm gessing that the problem is the ILO driver, but I'm stuck in this problem. So far, the problem has appeared in two different servers, a DL140 Server and a virtual machine, living in a VMWare ESX 3.0.1. Did ayone had this problem, and found a solution?

Hi,

Install iLO driver inside a VM? Doesn't sound to me like that that would be very useful.

Is it recommended to even install these management agents on a VM?

I did it to centralize the alerts. I'm trying to do that with SIM. And I think it works, SIM recognized me some machines virtualized in VMWare.

Guillermo, the DL140 does not support any management software for internal server health monitoring. The VM's will not monitor health on your server, you need to install the ESX management agents on the host, not the vms.

Are you sure? Because I have a LO100i connector in the server.

Did you install the latest firmware first? That could be the issue.

I've installed every firmware udpate with PSP 8.6. And I couldnt find any other firmware update that solves my poblem.

Last time I checked there were no firmwares in the PSP.
They were in the Firmware DVD.

When I execute the setup of the PSP, the Smart Update Manager appears, and it let me choose to update only firmware, only software, or both. I've always chose the third option. That works?
