Problems starting the HP insight event notifier.

I've just installed a new DL380G4 server using the smartstart 7.20.

For some reasons I cannot start the service.

Anyone a clue?

You'd better install the latest PSP 7.30.

Yes I installed the lastest support pack 7.30.

The issue remains the same.

Have you succesfully configured the notifier?

Can you successfully walk through the configuration wizard?

start => programs => HP Management Agents => Insight invent Notifier?

Ehh I didn't know you had to configure it.

I'm getting an error message stating my mailserver can't be contacted?

Any further advice?

No prob!

This is the reason why your service can't be started.

It seems your server can't contact your mailserver?

Witch mailserver do you use? Check the relay settings.

Are you behind a firewall?

Yes I'm behind a firewall.

Your right, i can't telnet to the mailserver.

I'm asking to the network engineer to let me trough.

Further more I checked the relay settings and they seems to be alright.

He has to open port 25, so the insight event notifier can connect through the mailserver.

This is the rease why you can't configure the agent and the service isn't starting.
