Problems with HPSMH timeouts and VCAgent

Hello,

i have a proliant dl380 g7 server with newest firmware + drivers. when i start smh, i get after some time a timeout failure.

then i take a look in task-manager and see that the vcagent process is sized tp 10gb memory.

when i kill this process, or i deactivate this service, the smh works fine.

its this a known bug and what can i do to solve this?

just as a test... roll back one version and see if version control still hogs the memory?

Is your A/V software blocking it in any way?

Enjoy!

Re: Problems with HPSMH timeouts and VCAgent

Hello,

the version before has the same problems. the virus scanner is disabled in real time scanning for folder c:\hp and c:\repository.

What are the messages from the smh log?

Re: Problems with HPSMH timeouts and VCAgent

It's like it can't (or having trouble) talking to the SIM server.

Is the windows firewall on or blocking?

TFTP services are not being blocked...

Make sure the SIM server repository is current.  Check for a SIM update.

SNMP traps and security are correct.  You have localhost listed.

Enjoy!

Re: Problems with HPSMH timeouts and VCAgent

The SNMP Settings are correct. I deinstall both vcagent and vcrecovery. Now i start the smh and i get these message in in the internet explorer.

Meldung: Das Objekt unterstützt diese Eigenschaft oder Methode nicht.
Zeile: 71
Zeichen: 8
Code: 0
URI: https://datenserver:2381/proxy/smhui/chptree.htm

I manage many other servers, and i am sure that i didnt install hpsim, but there is everthing ok.

The one and only different i found is, that the server with problems uses ilo3 and not ilo2.

Re: Problems with HPSMH timeouts and VCAgent

You could increase the timeout settings for SMH and see if it helps,

 \hp\hpsmh\bin\
smhconfig -B 90

Check it with

smhconfig -V

Re: Problems with HPSMH timeouts and VCAgent

Interestingly, HP released a newer version of vcagent on June 4th, here:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=18964&prodSeriesId=1844067&swItem=MTX-0fb286d591154c8eb61236ab27&prodNameId=1844068&swEnvOID=1005&swLang=13&taskId=135&mode=4&idx=0

  • Added support to send server model detail to Version Control Repository Manager
Enjoy!
