Processor /Memory Upgrades
I have two Proliant 1600 6/450 servers. I want to upgrade them both to III 600's. I found a part number for the processor kit, 153555-B21. Does the proliant 1600 6/450 support the III 600 and does this kit also come with the power module for the processor? If so, I must also install the thermal upgrade kit, 144003-B22, right??
For my next question, is there anything that will allow the machines to recognize more than 1024 BB of ram?? I would at least like to take these to the ax ram possible using 256 I dims part # 313616-B21.
Thanks for any info you provide and could you please let me know if my part #as are incorrect?
Best Regards,
David Davis

Re: Processor /Memory Upgrades
That system board will not go that high. The limit is 500Mhz... and 1GB is the limit on RAM.
Any Compaq processor option kit will include the heatsink and power module. This is the main reason they tend to be higher than a standard Intel kit.
