Processor Upgrade Question
We are upgrading some Compaq Proliant 3000 servers. We currently have 2x400mhz Pentium II processors with 512K cache. I spoke with Compaq on the phone and they told me that we can upgrade to 2x600 mhz Pentium III with 256k cache and set the motherboard jumper to 500mhz. Our vendor says they spoke with Compaq and we have to go with the 600mhz/512K cache to be reliable. Whats the real answer if anyone knows? Thanks!

Re: Processor Upgrade Question
You can go up to 600mhz. The motherboard will be able to handle it. Now for the cache you should go with a 512 cache as all supported processors have the same cache.
I hope this helps. If not please let me know.
