Re: Processor Upgrade

You should be able to upgrade the spu without rebuilding. I suggest you first udpate the Rompaq http://www.compaq.com/support/files/server/us/download/10950.html also the firmware for any smart array controller in the server and the System configuration utility at : http://www.compaq.com/support/files/server/us/download/13227.html. Make sure you run the system configuration utility so that you record any hardware changes made. If you require any further help on this feel free to call 1-800-ok-compaq.

Re: Processor Upgrade

Hi,

We have 3x ML370R 866Mhz servers, single processor.
Running Windows 2000.
Did Rom update, also all the other updates found on Compaq downloads site.
Upgraded CPU to dual Processor, same model, same stepping.
While initializing, 2 processors detected but in Win OS, just 1 processor detected.
In devicemanager, expanding computer, we see ACPI uniprocessor.
These are production servers and it is impossible to reinstall OS!!
Please help!
How can we make OS dual processing?

Re: Processor Upgrade

No need for a reinstall of the OS. You will need to reboot though. Go back to device Manager and then expand computer. Go to the properties and then Driver tab. Then Update Driver. Please choose ACPI Multi-processor. Next, next.
you should be good to go from there after the reboot.
