Processor in incorrect slot
I have a ProLiant 1850R single PII-400 MHz that was working for ~ 1 year. During a recent reboot it halted with message that the "Processor is in incorrect slot. System halted"
I opened a case with HP - support people were very puzzled.
Since, I have
1 - re-seated the processor,
2 - installed a PII-450 MHz from a working system[with a jumper change],
3 - installed second PII-450 into the second processor socket.
The message is still the same. Server halts before any boot process begins. Please, if anyone have seen this...

Re: Processor in incorrect slot
I cannot update ROM because the server does not boot from anything. System halts before the POST.
I tried switch 6 reset the boot - does not make any difference...
Thanks anyway

Re: Processor in incorrect slot
Have you tried the original CPU in another system? I would just about bet that the mainboard might have gone up.
Might want to try a different VRM.
I have one with dual cpu's and she runs great, sure not looking forward to what you have found!
Good Luck.
