Proliant 1600 600mzh Memory Parity Error

Hi all,

I have a Proliant 1600 which has been running great for three years. I upgraded to a new server and was going to use this one in another capacity.

I installed Windows Server 2003 on the system and it seemed to do fine. I then added a linksys gig NIC (EG1032) to the unit and then installed the drivers. That went fine.

I plugged in the network... Not so fine. Blue screen

NMI: Parity Check/ Memory Parity Error

*** the system has halted ***

I swapped out the NIC for another NIC of the same type... Same error.

So... Any recommendations for a gig nic other than compaq? Like an Intel or a 3Com?

Or am I better off going with the compaq/hp device?

Have you tried another PCI slot? You could have trouble on that "one" slot...
Make sure you dont have any reservations set in the system config.
Enjoy!

John,
I'm receiving the same exact error, and we haven't changed anything on our system. Please let me know if & how you were able to resolve the issue. I'm not sure what caused it... I suspected memory, removed half of it (2 of the 4 DIMMs).. Same error, exchanged the memory, and again received the same error.

John,
If you do not need giga-fucntionality use the builtin Netflex3.
W2K3 does not have a driver for this nic and furthermore it is unsigned and dated but if works just fine with W2K3.
The is in the package cp003625.
