Proliant 1600 CPU Added
I just recently bought a 1600 with a 500MHZ processor onboard. I went ahead and found another one from the Proliant section of EBAY and wanted to add it to the server. When I add the second CPU and error comes up saying it is an unsupported CPU. I looked at the markings and labels on both CPUs (current & new) and they both look the same. Any Ideas?

Re: Proliant 1600 CPU Added
1. Test same CPU in slot 1
2. Need to have same Part number (114525-001)
3. System ROM need Upgrade http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/romtabl.html
4. VRM / PPM need to be installed (P/N 329267-001)
5. Run F10 for System Partition Update as Last
6. If Everything works fine Verify Multiprocessor Mode from F10 and Ctrl+A
If Problem still exist you might need to Replace Processor cage 313622-001.

Sounds like the step code is different. One of the last things written on the CPU, Something like SL5LX
Hot Swap Hard Drives

Re: Proliant 1600 CPU Added
I would recommend making sure the server has the latest firmware installed. The newer firmwares add support for later steppings.
The truth is out there, but I forgot the URL..
