The server is a 1600 with a 2dh drive array. The Smartstart CD (v4.21) lets me install NT4 server okay, but not Backoffice 4.5
It detects 3 mass storage devices on the server when loading the install disks:
*Compaq Drive Array
*IDE CDROM Atapi
*Symbios Logic PCI SCSI host adapter
It starts to copy the files, then seems to restart soon after starting to copy the files. As it reboots, it gets to a black screen reporting NTDETECT not found.
Do I need to install any additional drivers to get this to load? or am I missing something from the smartstart disk to allow me to install Backoffice from this?

Re: Proliant 1600 and NT Backoffice 4.5
You need to do the manual installation of BackOffice 4.5. Once you start the process with Smart Start Process then choose the Manual process of installation versus the assisted path. Also you may want to update the system Bios and the firmware of Smart2DH controller.

Re: Proliant 1600 and NT Backoffice 4.5
The Win NT install screen lets me pick the partition to install onto (4GB and FAT) and then starts the file copy. This is where it restarts and I do think it is not getting the chance to copy all the files.
Will the BIOS and Firmware updates fix this?

SolutionPlease follow the MS article Q225309 and this is exactly what you need to do. MS acknolwdges that this is a known issue with BackOffice 4.5.

Re: Proliant 1600 and NT Backoffice 4.5
Yes that would be the only choice if you want to install MS BackOffice 4.5.
All the best.
