Proliant 1600 dual processors

We have installed Win 2003 Enterprise server R2 on a Proliant 1600, and although two processors show in the Bios, when Windows starts up it only seems to see one and the machine runs like a 'dog'. What can we do to speed things up?

Re: Proliant 1600 dual processors

it seems a OS problem.
also, it seems that the OS you have installed it's not supported.

see the matrix here.

And if CPU stepping is Ok - read this thread

Re: Proliant 1600 dual processors

Well, I felt I ought to post a little update. We got it to all to work in the end with the dual processors. It all came down to forcing in a system HAL during the installation. Here's the link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/299340 with the info.
Hope it helps.
