Proliant 1600 sometimes starts and sometimes not
Hi
I've a problem with my Proliant 1600.
When I power on, it can be that server starts correctly and can be that it doesn't start.
When it doesn't start no message appears because it seems as no signal is transmitted to monitor. But I don't think that problem is related to video card because anyway no action is performed in disks.
So it is as the server no start the bios..
someone has any ideas?
thanks
fabio

Re: Proliant 1600 sometimes starts and sometimes not
Hi Fabio,
You can try the good-old method of complete dissasembly, cleaning and careful reassembly of the server... specially if it is *that* old =) (don't forget your static wrist-wrap!)
Do an initial boot only with power, system board, CPU, RAM and video, then work forward adding controller cards, cables, drives and so on, one device at a time
Capacitors are so prone to die of old age...
Cheers and good luck,
Sergio
