Proliant 1600 won't boot from CD

Hi,

bit of a stupid question but it has got me stumped. I have a Proliant 1600 in a test environment. I have rebuilt the server a few times over the last few months. I need to rebuild it again but for some reason the server will not boot from and bootable CD's. I have tried a few different bootable CD's (Smart start 4.9, SS 5.2, NT Server CD's). When the server is booted it can read from the CD drive so I am pretty sure there is nothing wrong with the CD drive.

Am I missing something stupid here?

Thanks in advance.

If you can read from the CD-ROM drive (while an O/S is installed but you can't boot off the drive, then yes... relace the drive. I have seen this problem before many times.

You can test this buy pulling a working CD-ROM from a workstation and plugging it in... if it boots... theory proved.

Thanks, I tried another CD drive and it worked first time. I should have tried that earlier. I only feel semi stupid now because the drive worked in the OS.
