Re: Proliant 1600 would not boot up..PLLLease help!

reseating the processors seems a bit screwy because it is all cramped up in the processor cage.. do i need to unscrew anything or the processor comes out easily..

550MHz processors... ok... good.

Take a look at the processors and make sure each is firmly seated in the server. Also, take a look at the PPM's next to the processors and see if you can spot the Spare Part Numbers from them:

Here is the picture:

If you need to, remove the processor cage and there is a thumb screw on the top that holds a door that swings open.

Hmm... 19Amp VRM.
http://partsurfer.hp.com/cgi-bin/spi/showphoto?partnumber=329267-001

And none of the cables in the back were loose?

ok... put the system back together...

A word of caution, when inserting the processor cage and the I/O cage back in the server, make sure you do not have any of the cables running from the Power Backplane Board in the way. Insert the cages nice and smooth but be firm to make sure they are fully inserted.

After you get it all back together, I want you to remove any PCI devices in the I/O cage. Lets bench this server with only one DIMM in the processor cage.

Can you get it to boot?

yes, you can set S6 back to normal. We need to get it to POST more than it is.
Enjoy!
