Proliant 1600R (Cisco MSC 7830)

We have a Cisco MSC 7830, which is a Compaq Proliant 1600R. We have drives attached internally to the Smart Array controller. We would like to connect an external drive array as well. Can both internal and external be connected at the same time? If so, do we have to re-run Smartstart to configure? As of right now I get termination error and another stating that I can not connect both at the same time. Could I just put another smart array controller in for external and have 2 controllers?

Also, I am trying to find docs and specs on the Proliant 1600R and 1850. I used to be able to find the orignal Compaq webpage for that. Does anyone have a link to it?

In the Compaq array diagnostics on the smartstart CD I get this:

Controller is not configured

SCSI Port 1 Drive ID 5 is not stamped for monitoring
SCSI Port 1 Drive ID 8 is not stamped for monitoring

Error occured reading RIS copy from SCSI Port 1 Drive ID 2
Error occured reading RIS copy from SCSI Port 1 Drive ID 5
Error occured reading RIS copy from SCSI Port 1 Drive ID 8

No configuration for array acceleration board
