Proliant 1600R
Hi
i´m seeking info about an Proliant 1600/500( 500 MHz, 768 MB RAM ,scsi x 4 9,1 GB) it has 4 scsi drives, but it does´nt boot, the screen is black, my question is, if it is possible to boot it from a IDE drive. I also need to know if i can put an additional CPU in it I have a P-III 500 MHz.
thank you for any info

Re: Proliant 1600R
You will have to use Compaq part number parts. CPU's, memory, etc.
Try this URL:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DocumentIndex.jsp?contentType=SupportManual〈=en&cc=us&docIndexId=179911&taskId=101&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=254906
Since you have no video someone may have disabled it. These servers had a diagram of the system inside the cover or case panels. Grab a torque screw driver and unplug the system. Remove the top two screws which look like thumb type. Slide the cover off and you should find the system diagram.
You mentioned 768 ram, do they have part numbers ending with a -001 or -003. This is a good way to identify correct parts. Since it is old you can check eBay for parts.
These servers run great.
Good Luck, Tommy
Sincerely, Mark
