Proliant 1600r 500 to 550 Upgrade

I recently purchased a used Proliant 1600r with Dual P3/500 CPU's, which I transferred into an 1850r to match it up with an existing server in our office.
I pulled a single P3/550 from the 1850r which I would like to install into the 1600r. Unfortunately, I can't locate the appropriate jumper settings to setup the unit for a 550 chip.
I also noticed another tip stating I needed to install a heat upgrade kit. What would be the proper procedure for what I'm trying to do and parts might I need?
Also, would it be possible to simply drop the 550 in without changing any settings and let the system run it as a 500 to avoid changing any of the configurations?
Thanks!

Re: Proliant 1600r 500 to 550 Upgrade

Hello Mark,
This is what you need for PIII550 upgrade:

To Upgrade 400-MHZ, 450-MHz, or 500-MHZ models to the 550-MHz or 600-MHz or when upgrading a 550-MHz to the 600-MHz model, installation of an additional Thermal Upgrade Option Kit (Part No:144003-B22) is required. Failure to install this kit when upgrading may cause damage to the server and will void the warranty.
The dip switch settings are as follows:
Processor Core/Bus Switch Settings
SW1 SW2
Core/Bus Ratio 1 2 3 4 1 2
66/266 Off On On Off Off Off
66/300 Off Off On Off Off Off
66/333 Off On Off Off Off Off
100/350 On On Off Off Off Off

Sounds good, thanks for the help! One more thing, what exactly is included in the Thermal Upgrade Kit?
