Proliant 1850R Hard Disk limitations

Hi,

Just a quick question to find out what the best type (for price and size) SCSI disks i can use in my unit, whether they are attached to the motherboards SCSI or on a Smart Arayy 3200 controller have any effect i don't know.

It says on the 9Gb one I current use thats its a Wide Ultra 2 SCSI. Am i limited to these types only? I ideally want to use the 4 hotswap bays fully.

Regards,
Ben

Re: Proliant 1850R Hard Disk limitations

The SCSI Backplane on that unit supports Wide-Ultra SCSI-3 speeds. The integrated controller also supports the Wide-Ultra SCSI-3 specs. Your 3200 controller also supports the Wide-Ultra SCSI-3 speeds. So if you replaced your Wide Ultra Scsi-2 drives with Wide-Ultra SCSI-3 drives there would be a slight performance upgrade.

I Hope this helps.
