Proliant 2500 vs. PCI video card

I have a Proliant 2500 with Win2000 AdvServer installed, PPro200, 164MB RAM, 5 9.1 GB hdd's (2 mirrored, 3 RAID 5). Completed install using SmartStart 5.5. I am attempting to install a GeForce4 MX420 PCI to use instead of the integrated video. The first thing I tried was to pop in the card, run SmartStart System Configuration Utility (PCI video was recognized) and save the new config. After pulling the SmartStart CD and booting normally (with display connected to PCI video) the boot fails with a 'non system disk' error. If I pull the PCI video card the machine boots normally with no issues. I have since disable the on-board video via the SW1 dip switch with the same results.

Re: Proliant 2500 vs. PCI video card

Hello Brian,
I suspect your video card is taking over the boot controller order. When you reboot with Smart Start CD after installing the Video card please make sure that the boot controller is set to first to which ever you have.
