Proliant 2500

Hi,

I started up my server after a week of down time and it now hangs after 2nd processor initialized. I am also getting 172-EISA Configuration Nonvolatile Memory Invalid
Initialization Aborted.

Can anyone please help with this problem? I can't find any answers to this anywhere.

Thanks

Re: Proliant 2500

As you probably realize, the battery keeping your configuration information in CMOS is dead and having the machine off for a prolonged period of time has caused the settings to be lost. Boot from a SmartStart CD and run auto configure. Hopefully this will get your machine running again.

Re: Proliant 2500

Hi John,

Thanks for your reply. I cannot boot from CD or floppy as the post does not go further than the 172 error. Before I got this message the server halted directly after initialization of the processors. This is when I had set the switch to 6 to clear the config and then set the switch back off again. It was at this point that I got the 172 error. I suspected that the battery may be faulty but what I don't understand is why I can't boot off floppy or CD.
