Re: Proliant 3000 CPU Upgrade
The systemboard in your current PL3000 will support two 333's max.
Hope that helps!

Re: Proliant 3000 CPU Upgrade
for me to upgrade to a processor 550 or 600 i will need a new system board which is the motherboard. also the memory will need to be changed also.
also mentioned in this forum, a part number was referenced regarding the 100mhz gtl bus and sdram (179766-b21). is this what i need?

Re: Proliant 3000 CPU Upgrade
Here is what you need depending upon the CPUs:
System I/O Board with Tray (PCI/ISA), (400, 450, and 500 MHz) 179779-001 ;
System I/O Board with Tray (PCI/ISA), (550 MHz only) - 146937-001
System I/O Board with Tray (PCI/ISA), (600 MHz only) -155347-001.
These are the spare part nos.

Re: Proliant 3000 CPU Upgrade
so the board for the 5500 is a actual upgrade for the for the server or is it a board from another model that fits?
the reason why i ask is because i want to know what upgrade kit i need to purchase.
on a side note, what is your opinion on these upgrades? am i just better off purchasing a new server? do you recommend any new / used sites for these parts?
thanks again! :-)
