Proliant 3000 CPU configuration

I have a Proliant 3000 with a single PII300 processor. I want to install dual PII333 processors that I have in stock. The system boots, but gives a cpu config error, and identifies the the 333's as 300's. How do I get it to recognize the 333's? I don't have the manual for this thing! Is there a switch setting on the mainboard? Also, with the 333's, is it still limited to 512 Mb of ram?

Re: Proliant 3000 CPU configuration

Yes, you do need to change a couple of dip switches. Here is the doucment you need for this:

Re: Proliant 3000 CPU configuration

hi tom

i wrote the emea version of proliant technology from 1992 to 2003.

here is an excerpt from my old material (see attachment.

as far as i can remember, compaq used a SPECIAL version of the 333 mhz processor.

i hope this helps
